Merc E200cdi Auto 2014 - Engine Shudder at idle

Merc E200cdi Auto 2014 - Engine Shudder at idle - Matt Kerrigan

Above car when cold has an engine shudder at idle and causes the engine revs dial to flutter but never looks like cutting out. It also feels like the engine is kicking on an engine mount as you can feel the little jolt whilst sitting in the car. Seems fine when warm and car drives perfectly. I should also say this is an Automatic and this shudder happens when sitting at traffic lights in Drive (D).

Appreciate any thoughts or things to check.

Possible injector fault?How is the cold starting?Was this model subject to a re-call for injector issues?

No cold start issues. Car drives really well.

OM646 engine so no injector recalls (only early OM651/220+250 engines had the injector recall). Find an MB independant specialist and get the car plugged in to MB STAR diagnostic, which will save time and money in finding a fix.

Has the gearbox fluid ever been changed/when was it last changed? An easy first check will be the gearbox fluid level as when the level gets low it can cause various issues. You can still check the fluid level as this model as it will have the 5speed auto box.

Thanks for reply. I own the car two years and I never changed the fluid. Car has 117,000 KM so may be due - not sure of the interval. My auto box is 4 speed.
