Volkswagen Passat B5 1.8T 2003 - Climatronic problem - Dave N
The unit blows hot and cold constantly. In warm weather it blows warm and cold, and in cold weather it blows hot and warm. It also does the same thing when set to 'Low', which sort of rules out the interior temp sensor.

You can hear the hot/cold servo motor running as the temp goes up and down, so something must be telling it do this!.

Checked the error codes, but nothing logged.

It also appears worse when around town, better when on a steady run.

Any ideas anyone?

Have you tried cleaning the in car temp sensor. This often gets clogged up with fluff and dust. You could run a vac over the front of it.Also check the cabin/pollen filter.

A very common fault is the fresh/recirc actuator which is tucked up above the N/S kick panel. They can often be heard moving back and forth.

Yes, I cleaned the int temp sensor and checked with a fag end that it was actually sucking in air. But it still does the same thing even when set to Low, when it should disregard the internal sensor.

If you manually scroll through the temp settings from low to high,is there a progressive increase of cold through warm to hot air? Also is the outside air temp reading accurately?
