Golf diesel automatic - VW Golf diesel automatic gear box failure - EAP
Has anyone else experienced a breakdown due to the failure of the computer that runs the gearbox, it led to loss of power and eventually stopped on a roundabout. Car is 4 years old, 47000 on the clock, repair will cost £1700 +

I assume this has the Dsg gearbox,where the computer (mecatronic)is located within the gearbox.It is a common problem and Vw should do a goodwill repair,even at 4 years old.

Unfortunately it is not unknown. Mine failed after less than 2 years and 30,000 miles. Thankfully Audi warranty paid, but it was £1500 plus fitting in 2008.
