Toyota Yaris - What 2nd car? - redcard

I got my first car at the start of the year - a 2007 Yaris 1.8 SR.

I'm thinking of replacing this at the end of the year, and was looking for some good recommendations.

  • I'm after something similar in size, maybe a bit bigger
  • Similar nippy engine, possibly bit more power as I understand the Yaris isn't really a hot hatch
  • Something a bit quieter - the only thing that really annoys me about the Yaris is the road noise

I've got a budget of around £10K

A cheaper option might be to change the tyres on the Yaris: different tyres can make quite a difference to the amiunt of road noise.

The 1.8 Yaris is quite lively, and it's a shame that Toyota UK won't import it any more, nor even this engine in the larger Auris (unless you go for the hybrid).

If you want a change of car, probably best to look at a Ford Focus, whuch has a good choice of engines and handles very well.

I'd also suggest a Skoda Octavia vRS like mine, although this too is sensitive to tyre brand when it omes to road noise.
