Ford Mondeo - Cruise Control Fault - Wobble73

Hi,

I wondered if I can ask anyones help on this matter ,my fiancee has just recently bought a 2008 ford mondeo 2.0 tdci which has just developed a fault with the cruise control which has stopped working.

I scoured google etc for a solution and found a possible fault with either the switch's on the steering wheel &/or the brake peddle switch.

My fiancee has since taken her mondeo into her local ford dealer where they have ran a diagnostic on the car and the result according to them was to say the least shocking - aparently they reckoned the parts were £100 if it was the switch's and if it's the ecu it'll be £1,800 + .

Is this correct or can I source the relevent parts & get them fitted cheeper ????.

Looks like the dealer has used a guess-o-meter on this.I would suggest take it somewhere that can give a more accurate diagnosis.A switch can be sourced new or second hand .An ecu is more involved as it is coded to the electronics of the car and I doubt if a s/hand unit can be easily fitted.
