Ford galazy Zetec 2001 - Loss of 12 volt feed - Peter D

My daughter pulled the cigarette light plug out of the centre dash unit and the socket came half way out pulling the plug off the rear of the socket.

How can I reconnect the connector. Do I remove the side panel or the centre console facia.

You may be able to locate the plug connector if the ashtray is removed.If not ,try unclipping the panel forward of the gearshift.Possibly fish it out with a coat hanger.The lighter and connector both mount into the panel from the front.

Not sure how you access these.Perhaps pull the glovebox out to see if that gives any more room.
