Toyota Hiace 2.4D - Not Revving Up - Smokey21

Hi, I recently posted about this vehicle's brake problems, but with the help of the Honest John users the "brake" problems have been fixed. Thanks guys.

But now it has a new problem:

The van starts but wont rev up, when I try to it wants to die

-changed the fuel fillter

-ran it off a jerry can incase it was the tank.

Still the same!

Hi Smokey
Check the exhaust. Does it sound odd at the tailpipe when it's idling?
Might be blocked?
Could you remove somewhere at the front near the turbo and run it again?
These Hiace's are supposed to be unbreakable!

Checked the exhaust, seems fine

3-4 weeks it started loosing power, the power would come back then it started to chugg. Now It wont rev at all.

Also there is some smoke comming from the back, not black just a bit more than usual.

It's a V registration and i'ts not got an "MAF Sensor" It's got a curcular cylinder filter.

Could it be anything to do with an injector or pump?

Note: starts first time and ticks over perfect but won't rev! strong smell of diesel tail and appears to be dripping unspent fuel from the exuast !!
