A guess-o-meter is no good on modern cars.Take it to a specialist that can read the engine fault codes and data and analyse any issues

One of the best investments for any owner of a modern diesel car is a cheap code reader. Given a code reader and a bit of googling you can find out most things. A cheap code reader will usually pay for itself instantly as it's less than taking the wagon to the main dealer.

My guess is it will be egr valve related, or possibly the turbo pressure switch.

"Anti pollution fault" is a generic message that appears on screen and can mean dozens of different things.

You need a diagnostic check to find what the problem could be. Search for "Peugeot Planet Owners Map" and you'll find a link to a map of Peugeot owners with Peugeot specific diagnostic equipment who will help you out.

They're not mechanics or garage owners so they don't have a vested interest in your wallet!

Don't go for a cheap code reader though. Not only will it show up old codes which may not have been cleared when a faulty part has been repaired in the past, but it won't read live engine data, confiming if the part is actually faulty.

I'm currently assisting a Peugeot owner who was given a code telling him that his EGR valve was faulty. He had the valve replaced but it hasn't fixed the problem.

Unless the EGR valve is activated directly by the ECM and it's actual position is then reported back to the ECM I can't see how any fault code could determine that it is faulty.

More likely a fault code of EGR excessive or insufficient flow was generated, but that wouldn't specifically point to the EGR valve itself.
