N/A - Parking in London near A12, possibly Gants Hill. - lordwoody

We've been invited to a friends flat in Docklands to see the Marathon on 26th April and I've been looking at travel options from Ipswich. The train is fairly expensive and it would be cheaper to drive in and park as near as possible and use public transport for the last leg. Many years ago we used to park at Gants Hill but when I go on Streetview the area all looks a bit different and unfamiliar and I'm wondering if anyone in East Anglia can suggest the best drive ->park -> public transport options?

I used to know the area well. I assume you are looking for free on street parking as the road layout around Gants Hill hasn't changed much.

Shows you will only pay £1.50 all day at Newbury Park and Redbridge (one stop either side of Gants Hill) but still on the A12.

A little south, Seven Kings on the overground is free on Sundays.

I grew up in the area, Newbury Park is better than Redbridge as it has a much larger carpark - and although it is a little further out from London the extra travel time is neglible, possibly less than the extra driving time and both will be served by the same train service.
