Honda Jazz 1.4 cvt 2011 reg No. g10BJC - tyre choice - fstormin

This car needs 2 x tyres.

I wish to have fitted Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 tyres size 185/55R16 87 H on the same axles despite the current tryes have a 83 load rating.

The reson for choosing the 87 load rating is because the European Tests give this tyre B for fuel economy & B for stopping performance in the wet.

As the speed rating is the same as specified and the chosen tyre has a higher carrying capacity will it be permitted to fit these tyes?

Interestingly, the price of the higher loading tyre is less than the 83 rated one by £6.00 per tyre. Apparently, this is due to lack of demand for the lower rated.

Regards & thanks in advance

Norman

Permissable to go up in ratings, the important thing is not to go below makers spec.

Its possible the higher rated are marked XL, extra load, and may have slightly stiffer sidewalls, you might find a slightly harder ride but with a 55 aspect you probably won't notice, some people prefer higher load tyres for a bit of extra sidewall strength.

I wouldn't mix the ratings on the same axle.

Yes, you can fit the higher load rating tyre.

Do note that the tyres might be a little bit louder in use, as they will probably have a slightly stiffer sidewall. However, this is likely to be marginal.
