Ford Focus - Ford Focus 2006 1.6 tdci power steering noise - Focusphil79

Hi All - my first post on this site, so any help would be grateful.

My 2006 1.6 tdci has developed power steering noise (like creaking). Noise started when only on full lock, but is now more noticeable at lower steering angles, although the noise increases as lock increases. I know on this model that there is no power steering fluid (I think it's an electronic power steering). Any ideas on what is causing the noise and what I can do to stop it?

The pas on these is electric hydraulic.Access to the power steering fluid reservoir requires removal of the driver side headlight.

Our 2005 developed creaking noises when turning, it was diagnosed as the suspension bushes being worn. Did not get them done since we intended swapping the car anyway so no idea if they were the cure.

Thanks for the info. Im assuming the power steering fluid is the standard stuff recommended for other focus models?
