Vauxhall Frontera - Frontera 2.0 Petrol sport cranks but wont start. - rightcar

Hi I wonder if you guys can help. I have a 1998 Frontera 2.0 petrol. I have changed the thermostat and flushed the cooling system through for ages. It is all back together again. I have tried to start it but, it cranks but will not start. I think the alarm siren has been removed previously but there is a ticking noise coming from the alarm box. I have one key but do not have the remote part just the key. Central locking works, it cranks, the engine management light stays on but it wont start. I have tried to plug my scanner in but there is no power to the obd socket. I'm at a loss.

Your help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that the crank position sensor is connected ok,as the wiring runs close to the thermostat housing?
