Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi Diesel 2008 - Intermittent starting problems - showmethewayhome

Recently purchased a Ford Focus Diesel Estate (TDCi, 2008) and the other day it struggled to start, then a couple of days later it failed to start at all, it was turning over but just wouldn't catch.

Called the RAC and they plugged in the diagnostics and got two error codes surrounding the fuel rail and pump, and said the pressure in the pump was very low. He sprayed some easystart in and got it going, and it ran fine to get me home.

Took it to my local garage and (would you know it) he just couldn't replicate the problem started perfectly every time he tried throughout the day, and couldn't get any fault codes out of it.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Or what's the best direction to take?

Thanks so much.

It is important on a late diesel car for the engine to be cranking at a good speed ,otherwise it will not start. So is the battery up to spec? Also has the fuel filter been changed recently?A blocked filter can prevent adequate fuel pressure .
