Fiesta 1.4 3dr(2004) and 5dr(2007) - A Tale of Two (used) Fiestas - Mr Indecisive

Hi,

I'm currently looking at buying a 2nd hand car and have been trawling used car lots and the internet for the last couple of weeks.

I've finally whittled it down to 2, both of which should suit my needs. The only problem is I just can't decide which one to buy!

I think it's possibly because they're both very similar.

See below..

Car 1
- Fiesta
- 1.4
- 2004 reg
- 77,000 miles
- 3 dr

Car 2
- Fiesta
- 1.4
- 2007 reg
- 80,000 miles
- 5 dr

Car 1 is being sold by a garage that's throwing in a new MOT, service, and 6mths tax

Car 2 is being sold by a used car lot and throwing in a service (car is MOTed to June next year)

The only difference other than age is the interior, with car 1 being slightly more worn than car 2.

I've already tried researching both models, listing for and against, and even flipping a coin, but still can't decide.

I'm currently carless at the moment (an insurance claim killed off my last car), but need to get sorted soon.

Any help or comments or appreciated!

Are they the same price? If so, Car 2 every time. Newer, same miles, more doors.

Assuming the SH and MOT's add up to prove mileage, and both cars run similarly well, then the newer car is a no brainer.

Tax is cheap enough not to be worth worrying about, easiest self servicing you could wish for.

The only thing i would do is check all the usual sources, eg ebay autotrader gumtree and see if a one/two private owner still taxed version of the same car (being sold by the owner) happens to be lurking about within reasonable distance, see if you could save some money or get a much lower mileage car for the same dosh.

Don't forget the 2004 is effectively worth very little for insurance purposes, and thw 2007 is worth a good bit more.

so newer...

Agreed - car 2 every time, unless there's something you haven't mentioned that makes the decision more difficult than it seems to us. Age wears a car out as much as mileage.
