Seat Ibiza 2003 - Oil Inspection - ducky82

My car is flashing up with the oil inspection reminder. Do this come on for any techical reason or is it just based on time?

The car was fully serviced last November which I know was a while ago but its not driven alot and has done under 5000 miles since then. The oil warning light is not coming on and the car starts fine. I also checked the oil level which again seems fine.

Do I need to take it to a garage or can I just reset it?

Quite possibly the oil service reset wasn't done at the last oil change.

However, rather than just doing it now, why not get an oil change carried out AND the indicator reset ? HJ personally recommends oil changes either annually, or every 10k miles, whichever comes first, and it's been 9 or 10 months.

Oil changes are cheap. Engines are expensive. As they say, you do the maths.
