Noise levels app - Ed V

There's now an app which will measure and display in decibels how noisy your car is or isn't, and is available for all types of mobile phone.

It also measures the large difference between the most quiet and noisiest motorway surfaces!

I don't need an app to know how noisy ot not my car is I just listen! LOL

I'm assuming this is maybe meant for when people are looking for a new car and use it whilst test driving?

In some ways your ears maybe better, but it depends what you're trying to find out. A quiet high pitched sound could be more annoying than a louder, lower pitched sound.

As another reply says, as the mics aren't calibrated the readings may not be accurate. It's probably best for comparing cars rather than working out whether it'll damage your hearing.

I recorded levels ranging from 67 to 80 DCb at 70 mph on the M3 the other day, varying only on the type of road surface.
