I bought my car during some dry weather, so water getting into passenger footwell wasn't noticed at first. But after I noticed it, I checked a number of forums. Several people appear to have had this problem, but no one seemed to have posted a proper solution that worked. First the pollen filter cover had split. I repaired this with some plastic. I also checked the drain at the side, but this was clear. Bear in mind that the water entering the car is not under pressure. It's simply finding the easiest route down. Eventually I removed the bulkhead cover, pollen filter, and it's housing. Where the seal is, I put a bead of quality sealant around the seal. This is anti mould sealant that can be applied to wet surfaces. I replaced the filter housing firmly down, screwed it back in with the plastic nuts, and replaced everything. Since then I have had no leaks, despite some quite heavy downpours and the car being on a slope. Hope this helps someone, but contact me if you need more info.
