SEAT Ibiza - Need Car to replace Ibiza for 12 months:Lease/buy? - pcywmf

Hi,

I've ran a second-hand Seat Ibiza 1.9TD (1999) for 130,000 miles before a low speed shunt last week has meant it's likely a write-off (Total ~200,000).

I'm looking for a replacement but will only need a car for 12-15months (leaving UK with work after).

-15 - 20,000 miles per annum (50:50 work vs pleasure -no company car available-).

-95% motorway driving but also with camping/outdoors kit in back (No kids or pets)

-Not trying to impress managers/colleagues/friends

Any thoughts on best options? I've started looking at lease cars but this might be a bit short-term.

Thanks

Mike

Leasing short term will cost you £200 a month at least so that's £3k and the cars would be city cars with not much space. I'd try and find a tidy, cared for petrol Corolla, Almera, Mazda 3, Accent. £1,000 will get you something less than 10 years old without starship mileage. Buying a diesel to save a few hundred pounds on fuel would be a bit risky imo. Then take it to the auctions a few days before you leave.
