Nissan X trail 2.2 DCI 2004 - Cooling System Over presserising in expansion tank - caninekid89

Hi

First post

We have a 2004 X trial, which has had new water pump, themostat, radiator cap, and head gasket, carbon test shows clear

Bottom hose takes a long time to heat up, heater blows warm on a run, but cools down when idling

Any suggestion please

Blocked radiator.?

When engine is warm, check temperature of top or radiator and then down the side. It should go slowly from very hot to hot to warmm- gradually. (BE CAREFUL). If it suddenly goes cold.. tubes are blocked.

New radiator. jobbie.

Why did it have these items replaced? What sort of problems did they attempt to cure?

I'd suggest you bleed the system before diagnosing a new radiator.

Over pressurising of the water system is typically a blown head gasket.

When the car was in bits a flush of the radiator would have been sensible.

Airlocks can be difficult to remove on some cars. Maybe worth posting on the xtrail uk forum. Although i dont think yours is a common problem.
