Hi all..my daughters 04 Ka with a duratec engine wont start on the key,

On turning the key nothing happens...not even a click from the starter motor...

The batt is fully charged...I started it by push starting to get her home from the shops...found out later I should not have done this as it can damage the Cat...I wonder if I have damaged it???

Anyway I could do with advice on both subjects guys,

Even tried the spare key in case the main one was faulty,

Any ideas.

Either the starter motor is faulty or there is no voltage on it. Try running a lead from the battery+ and just touch it on the small terminal on the starter, if it turns the motor is OK but you have no feed to the solonoid, this could be caused by a faulty ignition switch or even a broken lead.

Harm to the cat is caused if the engine backfires while you towing/pushing it, it very rarely happens and I am sure you would have noticed it if it had.

Push or tow starting WON'T harm your cat or engine as long as it starts cleanly.It is only large quantities of unburnt fuel that will do harm.
