Vauxhall Corsa C 1000 twin port 04 plate - Not starting - colin100
Hi my son drove to work all ok .got back in car would not start .turns over .got towed to garage.they say the timing chain has jumped so out of time.cost to fit new chain 350 .but said the valves may be damaged.what I'm asking is as the car turns over ok with no rattling or knocking could the valves be ok.and ifs it worth having the chain changed and taking a chance .any thoughts thanks

You really need a compression test but risk the chain jumping further if you turn the engine over. Alternatively you may be able to feed compressed air into each plug hole & monitor for pressure drop over time. It all depends what diagnostic equipment your garage has.
