The nearside window has stopped going down leaving a 5cm gap, the offside works ok and, obviously, the fuse is ok.

The car itself has only covered 50,000 miles and was garaged most of its life so I don't suspect water ingress anywhere near the motor.

Is there something I could do just to get the window back up for the time being, electrical or otherwise?

Any help appreciated.
