Merc clk 3.2 - !50,000 miles up report - barney100

150k came up last night. I've had this car for 4.5 years from 90k and apart from a pse pump which cost me £600 it's been just routine servicing. 1 mot failure on a spring a couple of years ago and the bodywork is good. Just had a service which was £225 and now I'm semi retired will only do around 6k a year. So far 100% reliable.

Over the years I have come across a number of cars that have done over 250k. The one thing about all of them is that they were NOT used for short journeys! This kills cars. A friend in a similar position to you recently got his bus pass and uses it almost exclusively for short journeys. Besides saving fuel and car parking his fuel consumption has improved from the low 20s to the high 20s.At 6kper annum make sure yopu service on time rather than mileage.

The one thing about all of them is that they were NOT used for short journeys!

That would be a mathematical contradiction or impossibility. If there had been any short trips, the regular long ones would have cancelled out their effect.
