Isn't this a CR engine. If so should be 120,000 miles & I belive no time constraint, although I wouln't run it past 10 years.
This is absolutely totally wrong. Please don't listen to this.
The rule is usually 5 years OR:
- 60,000 miles then change every 40,000 miles.
- 80,000 miles then change every 40,000 miles.
- Every 40,000 miles.
Which it is, will depend on your car, but if the Jetta is the same as the Bora which I think it is, I think it'll be 60,000 then every 40,000.
Don't mess about with cambelts though, and if your car is nearing replacement or past-due, drive it carefully. I've seen an engine after a cambelt snapped at 70mph. Trust me, it's not pretty.
