Is this V70 a good buy? - Clear Spot
I am tempted by
March 2002 V70 SE D5 Auto, with lots of added goodies (e.g sat nav) taking new list price to circa £32k. Ex Volvo with 17k miles on sale at main dealer - I think I can get deal circa £24k

On my recent visit to look at a V70, I was struck by how keen the salesman was to offer what I thought were really good discounts on pre-reg and used. This might be because it was a wet weekday in Jan, in a dealership that was being re-built about his ears and which looked barely open from the road so his month's figures might be awful. Walker Farrimond in Bury in case you're wondering - they might be able to better it.

Isn't it Volvo who has a deal going with the Army out in Germany. They give a car to soldiers for 1 year / x miles on the condition that when they come to UK they give it back to Volvo. This means that Volvo do not have to charge VAT (IIRC) and can offer what seems a discounted price, when they really are making a whacking profit (instead of the VAT).
