Vectra 1.8 VVT - weird misfire - Archie
Hi all. My Vectra has developed a strange misfire. It starts fine and accelerates fine when cold, but when it is hot there is a misfire that is especially obvious when accelerating from 2500 rpm. There is no fault light, economy is not affected, but the misfire is starting to creep down the rev range. It only happens when the car is moving. When stationary the tickover and throttle pedal response are fine. Is it coil pack, MAF sensor or a vacuum leak?

Coil pack failing when warm.

The mis-fire will be damaging your cat convertor. Get it sorted sooner rather then later or will will end up with a large bill. Regards Peter

Many thanks for the responses, alas changing the coil pack didn't fix it. Running out of ideas now.

Turned out to be the VVT system, pulley on inlet cam shot.
