mazda 6 - mazda 6 08 plate dpf on and whirring noise - worried about the 6

Need some info after reading myself to worry on here .

My mazda 6is 85000 miles and bought a year ago after finishing its fleet life .

Full service history and new mot last week

Monday past had travelled 40 miles and was returning home when I was aware illuminated dpf flashing and whirring noise from under the bonnet.

Got home and took the car to local garage who dipped the oil and foundit over the x mark

Chenged the oil

Still noise there no louder but like a ticking

Now at a specialist engineer locally who reckons due to the noise could be a bearing or moving belt

Dpf still flashing

Need to knowif this engine is on the way out

Try not to worry too much. Whilst this model does have a DPF regeneration problem, there's a good chance that the engine will survive the episode. An overfilled sump full of diesel isn't ideal, but it probably won't be catastrophic.

A ticking noise could mean serious problems.

A colleague of mine had an Mazda mpv with a ticking noise.

It seemed that the little channels (filled with oil for lubrication) inside the engine was clogged up. Resulting in a huge engine repair bill

been advised this is due to a loose tensioner

tensioner and belt needs renewing

got them to do the rest of the belts whilst they are there as the engine is already stripped down

fingers crossed thats it done

still dont know why the dpf came on though

now for the bill
