Subaru petrol engines - Types of fuel delivery - Ed V

Multi-point sequential injection or direct injection - two options shown. The former seems to give quite a bit better MPG. Are there obvious pros and cons to the two types?

Direct injection normally gives better economy than port injection - no point using direct injection otherwise as the injectors have to be much higher quality/cost to stand up to combustion temperatures/conditions.

Direct injection will be more expensive to fix problems out of warranty if any occur.

The former is port injection and should normally give less mpg than Direct injection.

Carbon build up represents an issue with direct injection engines
