ford fiesta zetec 1.25 2005 - cambelt or chain - suffolk

i asked a brakedown recovery mechanic on 22/04/13 when the best time to change the timing belt was, as ford recommend 100,000 miles or ten years. His reply was, he would recommend changing at around 80,000 miles, but he thought that all fiestas from 2002 onwards did not have a cambelt anymore, they were chain driven? is this the case, or do they still have cambelts. thanks to everyone out there who can help me with dillema.

Recent Ford engines get very confusing since Ford have rebranded older engines as Duratecs for marketing reasons.

The original Zetec in 1600, 1800 and 2000 as used in the Mondeo from inception to about 2000 were all belt driven.

The Focus Mk 1 used the Zetec in 1800 and 2000 forms but the 1600 used the Zetec SE (compeletely different all alloy motor) that was also belt driven. The Focus ST and RS also used the belt driven 2.0 Zetec but Ford badged them as Duratecs.

Fiestas have uses many engines over the years. The 1.25, 1.4 and 1.6 Zetec SE (as in the OP's car) are all belt driven. The 1.8 belt driven Zetec was fitted to some cars. The Fiesta ST used the chain driven Duratec motor.

Mondeos from 2001 used the chain driven Duratec in 1.8 and 2.0 as did the Mk 2 Focus. The Mk 2 Focus 1.6 continued to use the belt driven 1.6 Zetec SE but Ford rebadged it.

As I said, its very confusing.
