Powerfold failure is quite common. All sorts of reasons why - corrosion, burned out motors, stripped gears and more.

Both the major European mirror manufacturers have significant warranty returns on powerfold mirrors. And they are expensive to replace too, all manufacturers charge an arm and a leg for them especially if they've got indicators and puddle lamps fitted as well. And heaven help your wallet if you've got those new lane change cameras fitted to your mirrors as well!

Personally I would choose NOT to have powerfold or indicators in mirrors.
