The rear bulbs are the easy ones to replace...

OK thank you
Mine are actually black (I have a new shape Megane Privilege 1.9dcI if that makes a difference ?) They look to be fixed to a black panel - and have a star stype female drive in them. Weird. Ive looked and still cannot see anything yellow or white
Im going nutty I think ?
Cheers

sounds like a Torx bolt. You need a screwdriver with changeable bits, eg :

That's a bit off isn't it? Needing a torx screqdriver just to change your rear bulbs?

Nope - tried and its no good
Ive tried a torx drive in there - will not turn
Ive even put a pliers on the outside three prong affair and it just twists. The top one appears to be attached to the panel and will not turn, the other is under a 50mm plastic bung at the side - similar problem
This is crazy - I will have to go to Renault on Monday just to change two brake bulbs.
The front ones are supposed to be fiddly - and I changed a front indicator bulb without a problem :(

Reading the original post again, are you sure that it's the bulbs that are blown? It is very unusual to have both bulbs blow at the same time. I suspect an electrical fault may be the problem.

Hi
One went last week, so I went and bought two new bulbs. The second went Friday evening - as my neighbour is very informative about these things, such as tyres, indicators etc. I dont THINK its an electrical problem - but could be I guess. I am going to enrole on a course in September to learn how to change Megane brake light bulbs - sheesh !
