B30 Biodiesel. What are the pros and cons?
B30 Biodiesel statement from Morrisons
B30 biodiesel is a new product pioneered by new technology. At present it is
recommended by certain engine manufacturers and we are working with other motor
manufacturers to seek further approvals. Morrisons B30 diesel fuel meets EN590
specification which is the normal diesel specification except for a chemical
composition relating to FAME.
B30 diesel is compatible with most diesel engines however we do clearly advise that
customers check with the motor manufacturer before use.
Morrisons has taken a number of steps to ensure that customers are able to
distinguish between the various fuel including:
The advice is at the petrol pumps and on www.morrisons.co.uk/Store-Finder/Store-services/Petrol-stations
The labelling has three warnings, including advice to check with your
vehicle manufacturer, on each pump which comply with the Industrial standard
requirements.
In the same way a petrol pump is green to differentiate it from the black
diesel pump, the B30 pump is orange, to differentiate it further, a colour which was
agreed with the relevant authorities.
B30 diesel has been extensively trialled in 2,000 vans over a two-year period with
no occurrence of any problems whatsoever – in both city and open road conditions.
