Peugeot 308 SW (2008 - )
Good: Versatile update of 307SW on 308 floorpan. 3 x ISOFIX sliding, folding centre rear seats. Excellent handling. THP150 6-speed best.
Bad: Not much. Centre seats have to be slid back before then can be tipped for people to get out of the back.
What's Good
Shown at Frankfurt September 2007 as 'Prologue' concept car, capable of taking 3 rows of seats. 4,500mm x 1,879mm x 1,555mm high.
Like the 307 SW, the one and only only station wagon apart from the Dacia Logan (N/A UK) with 7 forward facing seats.
World premiere March 2008 Geneva Motor Show. Slightly larger than 308SW. On sale UK June 2008. Panoramic glass roof. Opening rear tailgate glass. Three rear seats in the second row are all individual, easy to remove, identical in size and offer a multitude of combinations. Two occasional rear seats can be fitted in the third row. With second row seats in place it can accommodate up to 674 litres (573 dm3 VDA) under the rear load cover. With the seats removed it provides a total volume of 2,149 litres up to the level of the roof (1,736 dm3 VDA).
Hatchback achieved 5 star NCAP occupant protection, 4 star chailes protection, 3 star pedestrian protection. 3 rear seats mean three child seats can be accommodated acoss the back.
Michelin Energy Saving tyres reduce fuel consumption, compared to the 307 SW, by up to 10%.
Chain cam petrol engines. 2.0HDI 136 available with 6-speed AW auto.
Four trim levels S, SR, Sport and SE and will replace the 307 SW and 307 Estate range of vehicles, when it is launched in June 2008. The S and SR versions will differ from the Sport and SE versions by the fitment of a steel roof panel and a folding split rear bench seat, instead of individual removable seats and a Cielo panoramic glass roof as found on the Sport and SE versions.
At launch the 308 SW is available with eight engine options, five petrol engines and three HDi diesel engines.
All engines meet the current Euro 4 emission standards and both the HDi 110 and HDi 136 diesel engines are fitted with a diesel particulate filter system (FAP).

The S and SR models both have a steel roof panel instead of a Cielo panoramic glass roof, a split rear folding bench seat, a 20 litre under floor storage area in the rear load area and a "classic" front grille design.
The SR version adds: 16" alloy wheels, Bluetooth hands free kit, storage pack (rear seat centre armrest with storage) and SMARTNav, to the standard specification of the S version.
The Sport version adds to the specification of the S version: three second row individual and removable seats, a Cielo panoramic glass roof, 17" alloy wheels, ‘Sports’ front grille, radio / CD with diversity + MP3 compatibility, opening rear tailgate glass, steering column airbag, front centre armrest, leather steering wheel, electric rear windows, ESP and cruise control.
The SE version then adds, compared to the Sport version: 16" alloy wheels, dual zone air-conditioning, two third row individual and removable seats, Visibility Pack (automatic headlamps and wipers), electro-chrome rear view mirror, electric folding door mirrors, Comfort Pack (front seat lumbar support and armrest), Ambiance Pack (fragrance diffuser, ambient lighting), dark tinted rear windows and tyre pressure sensors.
Handles really well. The one and only answer for someone who wants a 7 seater station wagon. Serious alternative to an S-Max.
Diesels with FAPs can run on up to 30% (B30) Biodiesel.
2009 International Engine of the Year award in the ‘1.4-litre to 1.8-litre category’ has again been won by the 1.6-litre, four-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine designed by PSA Peugeot Citroën in cooperation with BMW Group. Introduced in 2007 in the Peugeot 207, the 175bhp version of the engine also equips the Peugeot 308 GT THP 175. The 1.4 to 1.6-litre engine range delivers between 95 to 175bhp and is capable of producing over 200bhp for future product developments.
