Does my Peugeot Expert diesel van need a new fuel pump?

I have a Peugeot Expert diesel, 2005 model. I've just had the key programmed by Peugeot. They said the key wasn't programmed, but I think differently. There are no faults codes. I can get the van to run if I spray it with 'easy start'. It'll fire straight up. I loosened one of the feed pipes to one of the injectors, turned the engine over and diesel comes out. So I tightened it all back up and checked everything else was tight also. Still nothing. So I loosened it off again. I'm more used to older engines, but in the past when I've loosed off the feed diesel pipe going to the top of the injector, there was a lot of pressure there that squirted diesel out. With this van I don't get that? Am I supposed to?

It could be a number of faults. Check to see if you have a pressure regulator fitted and also a sensor fitted on the rail. If either of these are faulty then you will have a problem starting. Also make sure that your fuel filter is clean (or change it). I would not change the pump until all other areas have been checked.
