Which model of Volkswagen Golf should I buy for 13,000 miles a year?

I want a perky Volkswagen Golf to drive that is fairly economical. I intend to keep the car, so am thinking about a diesel engine. I do quite a high mileage, about 13,000 per year. There are quite a lot of engines to choose from. Which do you suggest?

If you go for a Golf, then get a 1.4TSI 122, not any of the diesels. The 1.4TSI is the best engine.

Comfortable and quiet on the move, enjoyable to drive. Nicely trimmed with great attention to detail. 1.4 TSI sweeter to drive than a diesel.
