Should I replace my car's rear tyres?

Have just returned from picking my car up after MOT and have been told that my rear tyres have slightly uneven tread blocks. The mechanic says it is due to the budget tyres that are on there and if I only drive locally not to worry, but if I do any driving at 60-75mph I should consider getting new tyres. The car does shake a bit when driving at these speeds. How serious is this problem?

I'd worry, and I'd replace the tyres.
