Why is my Ford Transit Connect losing power?

We have a 2006 Ford Transit Connect which passed its MOT two days ago, but now it has no power. It feels as if there is no boost from the turbo. I've checked all intercooler hoses and found them to be ok. I removed the hoses with the engine running and the turbo seemed to be working. I've also renewed the fuel filter. Can you help?

You don't say wether you have any excessive smoke or not (the colour of the smoke can be a good indicator). Have you checked with the garage that completed the MOT to see if they adjusted/repaired anything? You say that you removed the intercooler hoses and the turbo worked OK, was that with driving the vehicle under load or just static?
