Why is my Renault Trafic emitting white smoke and going into limp mode?

My Renault Trafic 1.9 DCi glow plug light comes on and goes into limp mode. It also wont rev over 2000 and emits lots of white smoke from the exhaust. Can anyone help?

While smoke usually means that the injected fuel is not burning correctly. To start, have the injectors checked and serviced. If this doesn't solve the issue then it could be a problem with the engine temperature or boost sensors. In that case, have a full diagnostic test performed. This should reveal the problem.
