Why is my 1996 Ford Fiesta leaking clutch fluid?

I gradually keep losing clutch fluid from my 1996 Ford Fiesta. It seems to be coming from underneath the engine, I have to top up the fluid once or twice a fortnight.
That means either the union to your your clutch release cylinder is leaking or the cylinder itself is leaking. If it's the external union, good news. You can tighten it up. If it's the cylinder itself, bad news because it will eventually leak onto the clutch itself and replacing it involves removing the gearbox.
