Can you recommend a small automatic 4x4?

I am looking for a secondhand small 4x4 for my mother. It needs to be able to house two smallish dogs in the boot. She does about 6000 miles a year and would rather have an automatic diesel, although that's not essential. She has a 2002 Octavia diesel hatch with 120,000 miles as trade-in. She can add about £7000 to that. Most of her mileage is local but, due to local flooding and snowfall in recent years, she needs the extra height and 4x4. I have looked at a Terios but I was concerned that it may not suit the long journeys she does about once every two months. Low running costs are important too. I have run out of ideas.

Me too. There aren't any more small automatic 4WDs apart from a Suzuki Jimny.

Better than the previous Terios model and decent off road.
Outstanding ability off-road and cute looks, especially as a soft-top. Cheap to buy.
