What is the whining noise coming from the engine of my Ford Kuga?

When warm and idling, I can hear a whining noise from the engine of my 2014 petrol Ford Kuga 1.6 2WD. This happens with or without clutch depressed. It disappears at other revs.
This is a belt cam turbocharged engine. The whine could be from the timing belt tensioner or it could be from the turbo bearings, especially if the engine has been regularly switched off when the turbo was red hot. You might need to get the turbo bearing oil feed and oil return pipes replaced because if they are partially blocked with carbon the bearing won't get enough oil.
