What is the cheapest car for my 18 year old son to insure?

My son has just passed his driving test, could you recommend a few small cars to insure? He has a budget of around £1000 for the car and I'm expecting the car insurance to be high.

Kids tend to like the Vauxhall Corsa and a Corsa 1.0 will be cheaper to insure than any other Corsa. The K11 Micra 1.0 is quite reliable but don't do much for status. The Toyota Yaris 1.0 is very reliable.
