Why is my Ford Focus' air conditioning only blowing against the windscreen?

My 2006 Ford Focus' air conditioning seems to be blowing but no heat or cool air will come out through the vents on the dash. It seems to be blowing against the windscreen constantly. Do I need to take this to a garage or is it just a clip somewhere that has come off?

It may be that a connection has come adrift (perhaps behind the dash panel) which, in itself, is a difficult job. It may be best to go to your local Ford dealer to speak to a mechanic and see if they know what the fault may be.

Failing that you could contact Ford UK and pursue them (given that your car has been dealer-serviced) requesting sympathetic warranty repair on a car that is only four years old. You will have to be strong in your negotiations, but it is worth a try and sometimes gets results.
