Need a reliable used car for under £8k

I need a reliable used car that will comfortably cover 15,000 miles a year. My budget is £7000 and I've been told to buy a diesel. I quite like the Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta. Which would you buy?

Yaris 1.4 D-4Ds from 2010 onwards have been running into DPF problems. Fiestas from 2013 have had a few problems too. Might be better to think petrol: Mazda 2, Honda Jazz, even a Yaris 1.3 or 1.33.
