Does the Qashqai have a Renault engine?
I am about to trade in my car for a 2013 Qashqai 1.6 diesel. I have heard that the Qashqai shares many components from the Renault stores bin, is this correct?
Having owned two modern French cars in the last 10 years I am loathed to throw any more money at these inherently fickle cars or at cars sharing their parts, particularly electrical components.
I have heard many great things about the Qashqai (particularly the 1.6 diesel) and sales figures seem to uphold these positive vibes but the use of Renault parts is a worry. Would be grateful for your opinion.

Yes. That's a Renault engine. One of the first diesels with Formula 1 manifold in head technology. The engine has been around since 2010 and I'm not hearing of problems. In fact, modern French engines, such as Peugeot's 1.2THP 130 are way ahead of the field. French cars used to fall down on electrics, but these days they're actually more reliable than German cars. I'm getting the same 1.6 DCI 130 engine in a Kadjar in a couple of weeks.
