Why can't I get a test drive in a new Skoda Superb 1.4 Tsi DSG?

Despite writing to Marketing Director Skoda UK (no reply), and Managing Director VW UK, although staff spoken to were helpful, the best offer was for me to drive 140 miles for a test drive. I declined.

When talking to employee at VW Executives Office I explained my main concern was that Senior Executives be made aware that a lack of petrol demonstrators meant Skoda must be losing sales and annoying customers at a time when they should be doing their best to win new buyers. The reply suggested this was unlikely to happen.

If the dealers are selling every car they can get hold of they can't provide demonstrators. But I would delay this purchase anyway until you can be certain that the car has the new 7-speed wet clutch DSG designed for 3 year maintenance. The lightweight dry clutch 7-speed DSG has been a failure.
