Is a three-year-old diesel Honda Civic a good buy?

Me and my husband have been saving up to replace our old diesel Fiesta and have been offered a three and a half-year-old diesel 2.2-litre Honda Civic for £6000 by a relative. It has 68,000 miles on the clock and has a couple of scratches, but is generally in very good shape. We were originally going to try and get a similar age Golf, but reading up about the Civic seems like this is a good reliable car - do you think it's a good price? Also, I have only ever had an old style diesel engine, and I have read that with the new engines there can be problems with the dual mass flywheel, particle filters and the turbo seals. Do you know, seeing as the mileage is quite high, if there is good chance I will have these problems?

That seems a reasonable price for that age Civic, considering it has covered above average mileage (which is usually 10,000 miles a year). We haven't heard of any major problems with the Civic i-CTDi engine - it's proved very reliable overall, although there are a few things to watch out for.
