Accelerator sticking on Jaguar XF

I own a 2014 Jaguar XF 2.0 diesel. On the motorway the car gets stuck on high revs and has to be put in neutral before moving to the hard shoulder. The car is due to have a 20,000 mile service. The same problem happened just before the 10,000 mile service about a year ago. Any idea what could be causing this?

Reads as if the DPF has not been regenerating properly and as a result extra diesel introduced to the engine to fire off active regenerations has sunk into the sump, raising the sump level to the point where a compression ignition engine starts to run uncontrollably on its sump oil.

Wonderful and bespoke feeling interior. Amazingly quiet and refined. More economical 2.2 diesel from 2011. Navigation not fitted as standard on most models.
