New cam belt has snapped - who's liable for the repairs?

I had the cam belt replaced on my KIA Sedona 11 weeks ago. However, last week, whilst driving, I heard a clunk and lost all power. The car was towed to my local garage, who said the cam belt has been torn to shreds. They have contacted the manufacturer as the garage believe something broke inside which caused the belt to break. The garage is unsure at this moment if there is any engine damage. Who pays the bill for this and what would be my entitlement?
If the waterpump and tensioner were not replaced at the same time as the belt then failure of either could have led to the belt failure and consequent engine damage. Highly unlikely that the manufacturer of the belt will accept any liability, but anyway, in law if the garage that fitted the belt also supplied it, all liability is theirs.
