Does my Ford Fiesta need a new engine?

The oil pressure in my 2003 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI LX is low. It's only done 70,000 miles. I'm told it will need a new engine if the oil pump's gone. Is this true?

If the engine has been damaged by the lack of oil pressure, yes. If it has not yet been damaged, then all you need is a new oil pump.
